To request a custom cutting quote:

1. Select your grain direction - Long, Short, or No Preference. See tips below for determining grain direction.

2. Type in the quantity (i.e. 30)

3. Record the dimensions to 1/8" (i.e. 5 3/8" x 8")

4. If needed, repeat up to two more cutting requests.

5. Fill in contact information and click Submit Quote Request.

We will review your request and contact you by email with a quote proposal. If you would like us to proceed with the cutting order, you will be instructed to submit your order through our website.

MINIMUM CHARGE: The minimum charge for a custom cutting order is $25. This may include cutting only a few pieces of board, for example, two book cover pieces and a spine. It is best to maximize a parent sheet of book board.

DETAILED CUTTING INFORMATION: For more detailed information on custom cutting, including sheet sizes and to see exactly how we determine the cutting cost, click here.

GRAIN DIRECTION TIPS: Grain direction always runs parallel to the spine of a book. For spine pieces, the grain direction is long. For the cover boards, the grain direction is usually long if the cover has a vertical (portrait) orientation. If the cover has a horizontal (landscape) orientation, the grain direction for the cover boards is usually the short direction, but the spine grain direction would be long.

Example 1: A finished book has a vertical (portrait) orientation. The cover dimensions are 6" (width) x 9" (height). The spine is 1/2" (width) x 9" (height). The grain direction for both pieces is long.

Example 2: A finished book has a horizontal (landscape) orientation. The cover dimensions are 6" (height) x 9" (width). The spine is 1/2" (width) x 6" (height). The grain direction for the spine is long, however, the grain direction for the cover is short.
