Hewit's Pentland leathers are our highest grade goatskin. They are dyed and tanned in Scotland. The skins are shaved to .80 mm which is slightly thicker than our Harmatan split leathers, but still thin enough to reduce most paring. The leathers are all Grade II which means surface markings are minimal.
The Pentland goat is aniline dyed and then hand polished to give an attractive two-tone finish, highlighting the grain normally associated with Nigerian goatskins. The surface is finished in a way which makes the leather ideal for finishing with gold leaf, foil, or "blind" tooling. If you require minimum dimensions for your leather, please indicate the minimum length and width required in the Special Instructions box when checking out.
Our goat leather prices are based on the price per square foot and the cost listed on our website is only an approximation. The average size skin is approximately 7 square feet. The price will be adjusted after you order, depending on the exact size we have in stock. We will contact you for approval if there is a price difference of greater than 10%. We recommend ordering a sample card to determine the specific colors, thickness, and textures available. Hewit makes every effort to maintain consistency between batches, however, note that slight variations may occur.
