5.0 out of 5 stars. Wish I had ordered this sooner! What a gorgeous book this is! I'm new to bookbinding and wanted something that explained not only the process but the materials and tools. It is very thorough in the descriptions and the accompanying photos. There is also a nice glossary in the back, as well as formulas (they aren't the scary kind!) that help you figure out exactly how much you need of certain materials. The book walks you through three kinds of books, starting with the easiest and going to more complicated projects, as well as how to make slipcases and clamshell boxes. If that wasn't enough there's a gallery of some stunning projects made by the authors that are inspiring. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it, even if it just sits on a bookshelf because the book itself is so lovely.

I am very happy with this book, good instruction, beautifully illustrated, and the author understands that the people using this book may not have the lovely and rather expensive equipment of a bookbinder and gives alternative options to use to get the result of an acceptable quality. In my experience, there comes a time in every book lover’s life when they become curious about the art of homemade books and bookbinding. When that time comes, there are few better resources to turn to than Introduction to Bookbinding & Custom Cases: A Project Approach for Learning Traditional Methods, by Tom Hollander and Cindy Hollander.

5.0 out of 5 stars. A must-have resource for anyone who enjoys books!!  Opening the book, the endpapers are gorgeous and a complete delight. The chapters for the various projects give detailed lists of materials, step-by-step instructions and pictures to go along. The authors give you the measurements for the materials for each project which makes it much easier to complete them. The gallery of books and boxes is beautiful to look at and makes my head swim with ideas. It is easy to follow and a must have resource.
